Mentorship & Growth
Team 33517 benefits from direct mentorship from Team 24124 North Star members. Guidance is provided in robot design, programming, and competition strategy to help New Horizons members develop essential robotics skills.
By participating in the Nighthawks Robotics ecosystem, Team 33517 fosters a collaborative learning environment. Members are encouraged to share knowledge and support each other, helping the team grow and succeed in FIRST competitions.
New Horizons also works closely with other learning teams, providing opportunities to engage in mentorship and teamwork, strengthening the overall robotics community at North Trail High School.
Our Journey Through Robotics
Early Season
Team 33517 was formed just before the Alberta teachers' strike, which delayed their official start and left them only 12 days to prepare for their first competition. As a result, they were forced to develop, build, code, and test their very first robot in that short timeframe, while other teams had the advantage of using the entire three-week school closure.
Despite the setback, they persevered, pushing their skills in 3D design, construction, and programming to the limit in order to meet the deadline. In the end, they succeeded and went on to perform exceptionally well at the competition, despite the challenging circumstances.
